GABRIELLE OETEGENN
Gabrielle was born and raised in Cologne, Germany. In 2000, she moved to the United States with
her husband, daughter and their beloved animals.
Having studied art for many years in Europe and the U.S., and working in many different mediums
and genres, such as oil and watercolor and still life and human portraits, Gabrielle discovered her
true love in the art world, pet portraiture, specifically the portraits of dogs and cats. Using colored
pencil, Gabrielle captures the true personality, physical characteristics and unique qualities of dogs
and cats in her work. One of her first works in this field is on display at the College of Veterinary
Medicine at the University of Illinois
“During the process of drawing your pet from photographs, I feel I actually get to know their
personality as I bring them to life on paper. I can imagine their temperament, and their unique
physical qualities. Honestly, I am so attached to each portrait by the time it is complete and feel
such a bond with each animal, I don’t want the drawing to end. But, as always, I am so happy to
present to you a beautiful picture symbolizing the special relationship you have with your dog or
cat. Every pet is special and deserves a portrait”.
